What Information We Collect
By default, BrightScreen operates entirely on your device and does not collect, store, or transmit personal data.
Optional features:
- Network Relay (opt-in): If you explicitly enable the optional Network Relay, the app may process limited technical connection data (e.g., data necessary to route outbound requests and validate availability) strictly to operate this feature and prevent abuse. This data is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Diagnostics/Crash reports (if enabled): Minimal, non-content diagnostic data (e.g., OS version, device model, crash traces) to maintain app stability.
You can use core brightness functionality without enabling Network Relay or diagnostics.
Location Data
BrightScreen does not collect precise or coarse location data. If you enable the optional Network Relay, limited connection information may imply a general network region for availability/latency purposes; it is used only to operate the feature and is not used for advertising or tracking.
Diagnostic Data
In the event of a technical malfunction or crash, BrightScreen may temporarily collect limited, non-identifiable diagnostic data. This information is used exclusively to help us identify and resolve software issues, and may include:
- Operating system version
- Device model
- Anonymous system logs related to the crash
Purpose and Safeguards
This diagnostic data is collected only when strictly necessary, is never linked to a specific individual, and is processed in accordance with the principles of data minimization, confidentiality, and security. The information is not used for analytics, advertising, or profiling, and is not shared with third parties , except where necessary for technical support under confidentiality obligations.
Optional Network Relay Data
If you opt in to the Network Relay, BrightScreen may process limited technical connection data solely to route occasional outbound requests to an allow-list of public web endpoints, measure latency/availability, and mitigate abuse. We do not inspect your personal browsing, do not accept inbound connections or device-to-device sharing, and do not use this data for advertising or profiling. You can turn the Relay off at any time in the app settings.
Use of Data
We use the minimum data necessary to:
- Operate core features locally on your device.
- Run the optional Network Relay (when enabled by you), including basic routing/anti-abuse safeguards for outbound requests to public endpoints.
Sharing or Transfer of Data
We do not sell, share, or otherwise transfer any personal data to third parties, except as strictly necessary to comply with applicable laws, legal obligations, or valid governmental requests. MycoNet does not disclose personal information to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. All personal data is processed and retained solely for the purposes set in this Privacy Policy and is not transferred to any external party without lawful basis or your explicit consent, where required.
Security Measures
We do not collect or store any personal information through the BrightScreen application under normal usage. The application does not log user identities, emails, browsing activity, device serial numbers, or other identifiable data.
Diagnostic and Crash Data
In limited circumstances, such as application errors or crashes, BrightScreen may collect minimal diagnostic information to help identify and resolve technical issues . This may include details such as the macOS version, device model, and non-identifiable system logs.
This data is collected solely for the purpose of maintaining and improving the stability and performance of the application.
Data Minimization and Safeguards
No diagnostic data is collected unless it is strictly necessary When such data is collected, we apply technical and organizational measures to ensure it is anonymized where possible, and securely stored.
We do not use diagnostic data for analytics, profiling, or advertising purposes, and we do not share it with third parties except for trusted service providers acting on our behalf under strict confidentiality and data protection obligations.
This data is collected solely for the purpose of maintaining and improving the stability and performance of the application.
Optional Network Relay — Security & Controls
- Outbound-only: the feature makes occasional outbound requests to an allow-list of public web endpoints; no inbound connections or device-to-device sharing.
- No access to your personal browsing: Relay traffic is independent of your own web use.
- Strict limits: rate-limits, quotas, and server-side controls to prevent misuse; the feature can be disabled by you at any time and by us globally (kill switch).
